Built on curiosity

Gnome Grown Aquatics wasn't born from a business plan. It grew out of a lifelong fascination with the natural world, an interest in understanding how things work, and a tendency to question why things are done the way they are.

I've never been particularly satisfied with accepting that something can't be done simply because nobody has done it before. Whether I'm exploring unconventional genetic combinations, developing new breeding lines, or refining our fish food through countless iterations, I'm driven by the same question: What else is possible?

But Gnome Grown is also about something bigger than fish. My wife, Brittany, and our five daughters are part of the life behind this business. Raising a family while pursuing something I'm passionate about isn't always simple, but building something of our own makes the effort worthwhile. I want my daughters to grow up knowing that curiosity is worth pursuing, that failure is part of learning, and that meaningful accomplishments rarely come without experimentation.

Today, Gnome Grown Aquatics brings together two things I care deeply about: exploring the genetic possibilities of Central American cichlids and developing thoughtfully formulated nutrition for the fish we raise.

I don't pretend to have every answer. In fact, finding the next question is often the most interesting part.

Gnome Grown is built on the belief that there's always more to discover—and the willingness to find out.
